The Cold War

REMINDER: I don’t offer last minute extra credit or deals to round up your grade. Tonight is a good time to check Eschool and see if you have any recent assignments missing.

Essential Questions:
Overall, was the nuclear arms race justifiable?
Overall, were proxy wars between the US and the Soviet Union justifiable?

Monday, 4/15: Intro to M.A.D. + Start Lecture

HW: DUE BLOCK DAY.
Read the 2017 article on the class web site “Stanislav Petrov Obituary”.

Respond to the prompts in 1 page minimum of writing, shared with nbutkevich@tamdistrict.org
  1. Stanislav Petrov didn't follow orders. Argue for or against the assertion that he was a hero, backing your argument with evidence from the article.
  2. Consider the 15 minute window to react that the Russian and American governments today face upon learning of a reported nuclear attack. How would you improve our nuclear defense system?
